At Ivydale mathematics is taught through a daily Numeracy lesson which follows the New National Curriculum Programmes of Study.
Considerable importance is attached to the children achieving and understanding mathematical concepts, processes and skills. A positive attitude towards the subject is encouraged through teachers presenting activities in an interesting and enjoyable way using key questions and suitable resources, allowing children to participate in lessons. As a result children develop a sense of achievement and confidence in the subject. During teaching sessions there is an emphasis on giving children opportunities to use and apply their knowledge and understanding of mathematics in problem solving activities and to real life situations.
Ivydale is keen that parents are enabled to support their children with Maths and runs sessions throughout the year to help families stay up to date. See below and in the Kids' Zone for useful videos and games to help your child at home with Maths.
